Pima County, Arizona ($50,000)
Use the abundance of sun and sometimes windy energy to provide everything needed: electricity, pond water circulation/filtering, water supply, etc. The SW corner is a powerful site for a hilltop wind/solar powered well. The hill is high enough to allow for a gravity feed to a holding tank and then further on to the home and any areas for gardening/irrigation.

The view from the 'homesite' is phenomenal…especially sunrises and sunsets! From the big hilltop, you have the Tucson Mtns to the far west, the Santa Ritas to the SW, the Whetstones to the SE, the Dragoons in the far distance to the East, and a huge backdrop to the North of the Rincon Mountains.

Besides the open-range cattle that roam through (no, they are not fair game!), there is deer, rabbit (cottontail and jack), quail and javalina. Other critters include coyotes, rattlesnakes, field mice, pack rats, etc…just the usual for the desert! I’ve been told the ground in that area is very good for growing grapes, and my neighbor to the west has put in a small vineyard.
It's a very remote area and accessibility should be gained only by truck. Cars might make it to the bottom of “Whiteknuckle Hill”, but there’s not much room to turn around. If you have a helicopter it’d be no problem at all! There is only one neighbor beyond and over hill to the west from our place. The nearest neighbor east is about half a mile down the hill.
